News:

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for justice: for they shall be filled. Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me. The glory of the Lord shall endure for ever: the Lord shall rejoice in his works. He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke. I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the Lord. Let sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the Lord, O my soul. Praise ye the Lord.

In the search to find the cause for life's origin and function, Meyer presents historical scientific methods used by Charles Darwin himself and his mentor Lyell, positing the question: "What causes now in operation are known to produce such effects as these?" and "What has the causal power to create the laboratory conditions we find on our rare planet and also the biological information encoded in digital form, that when decoded and translated, performs a function in lieu of its specific arrangement?" From our repeat and uniform experience, Meyer says, we know of only one cause having such power to produce this type of information: an intelligent agent—a mind.

By reference to the evidence provided by our human intelligence, and by surveying the probabilistic resources available in our universe, Meyer then makes a positive argument for a greater Designing Intelligence of this universal "set up job" in which life came to be.

Does Jesus Still Matter?
@ColdCaseChristianity

Detective J. Warner Wallace 🕊️ listened to a pastor talk about Jesus and wondered why anyone would think Jesus was a person of interest.

Wallace was skeptical of the Bible, but he’d investigated several “no-body, missing person” cases in which there was no crime scene, no physical evidence, and no victim’s body. He successfully identified and convicted the killers in these cases, even without evidence from the scene.

Could the historical life and actions of Jesus be investigated in the same way? Could the truth about Jesus be uncovered even without a body or a crime scene? In Person of Interest, Wallace describes his own personal investigative journey from atheism to Christianity, as he employs a unique investigative strategy to confirm the historicity and deity of Jesus—without relying on the New Testament manuscripts.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. ~ Romans 12:1-3

Romans 13 and Christian Submission to Civil Authority, by Michael Morrison 👍

Quote
Verse 3: People who do good need not fear the government, says Paul, since rulers punish the bad, not the good. This is clearly a generality. Although Judaism was a legal religion, Jews had nevertheless been persecuted by government officials. Paul himself had been a persecuting authority, albeit a religious one. Jesus had done good and had nevertheless been punished as an evildoer. In 12:14 Paul speaks of persecution, which was often done by civil rulers. No civil government has ever fulfilled its responsibilities perfectly.

Paul’s primary purpose in this passage is to teach Christians what they should do, and his comments about civil legitimacy support that practical purpose. His theological foundation is general; the advice for the situation at hand is specific.38 That does not reduce the truthfulness of what he says about the state, but it advises us to be cautious about applying Paul’s general statements to other specific situations. This section describes the way government ought to be;39 it does not specifically address the situation in which government does the opposite of its divinely ordained function.40

Quote
Christian submission becomes more difficult when civil legitimacy is clouded — and few civil governments have acquired power legitimately. Almost all, including the Roman rulers when Paul wrote, took it by violence from someone else, or their ancestors did. At most times, there is no question as to who is exercising authority. But there are sometimes transitions in which it may not be possible to know who is legitimate. For practical purposes, Christians have to treat almost all as legitimate and submit to those who have civil power.44 The gospel should not be tainted with political positions.

This presents a practical problem in civil wars, especially those involving guerilla operations. Both sides claim legitimacy; both may exercise power, but no one can determine which side, if any, will win in the end. Suppose a Christian lives in an area that has been controlled by insurgents for several years. The insurgents have set up government administration, punishing evildoers and rewarding good behavior, administering schools, building roads and managing an economy. They are rebels to the central government but authorities locally; a Christian in the area should submit to the people who are currently exercising civil authority. In some areas, however, practical control may fluctuate from day to day. When the federal army is in the area, the Christian submits to that authority. When the army leaves, the guerrillas return, and the Christians again submit. The end result is that Christians in such an area may pay taxes to both sides.

Another question may arise when there is a difference between written law and de facto law. Bribes are illegal, but in some countries, nothing can be done without paying bribes. Should the Christian submit to the person exercising authority, or to a written law that is functionally powerless? In some situations a Christian might conclude that a “bribe” is for practical purposes a tax that functions to supplement the otherwise inadequate salaries of government officials. Some of the taxes taken by Roman tax collectors seem little different than modern bribes, but Paul apparently advised paying the charges – but not in all situations (Acts 24:26).

The application of Rom 13 in such situations challenges a Christian’s wisdom. In what way should one submit to authority? Equally sincere Christians may make different decisions, all acknowledging God’s right to rule, the fact that ☝🏻 he has allowed fallible humans to rule, and that he wants Christians to serve in this world of inevitable conflicts.

What should a Christian do when a civil ruler or a law requires a Christian to 😈 break God’s law? The answer is clear; God’s law has priority, since he is the supreme authority. Rom 13:8-10 teaches the priority of love and the avoidance of harm. This divine demand may conflict with civil laws. “Disobedience to the state on the ground of conscience [e.g., knowledge that complying with 🦖🦍 civil orders will hurt our neighbors], which is certainly inferred in 13:5, is…one legitimate reason for disobedience” (Hynson 261).

Meyer, Murray, Holland: Join the Conversation about Faith and Science

January 15, 2023, 7:40 AM Andrew McDiarmid

AGelbert COMMENT: I just finished watching and agree that this is an excellent discussion by all these erudite individuals on a topic that can be quite thorny, to put it mildly.

It all boils down to this: The problem for humanity is to decide, once and for all, that ethical behavior, based on Christ's Commandment to behave towards others as you would have them behave towards you, is sine qua non for a viable society, OR accept that the embrace of Social Darwinism by too many influential poltical and business leaders, from the late 19th century all the way to the present, has replaced ethics with the morally bankrupt 'might equals right' atheist Darwinian ideology.

Celebrated social theorist and geographer David Harvey asked, "Is there a way to capture what (to the detriment of human civilization) is going on now" ?
YES.
Based on what David Harvey himself has written, I'm surprised that he has not reached the "It's the Social Darwinism, s t - - - d" conclusion yet (see below):

David Harvey explains that neoliberal ideology serves the following principle:
"There shall be no serious challenge to the absolute power of money to rule absolutely. And that power is to be exercised with one objective: Those possessed of money shall not only be privileged to accumulate wealth endlessly at will, but they shall have the right to inherit the earth, taking either direct or indirect dominion, not only of the land and all the resources and productive capacities that reside therein, but also assume absolute command, directly or indirectly, over the labor and creative capacities of all those others it needs. The rest of humanity shall be deemed disposable."
David Harvey, “The Party of Wall Street Meets its Nemesis,” http://www.zcommunications.org/the/party/of/wall/street/meets/its/nemesis. Also, by David Harvey, A Brief History of Neoliberalism (Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2005.

It's the SOCIAL DARWINISM!
Social Darwinists believe that ethics based principles are 'limitations pretending to be virtues'. To them, ethics are 'feel good illusions' that humans invented to pretend our species has empathy. To Social Darwinists, empathy is irrefutable evidence of inexcusable weakness. To them, all who are guided by ethics are deluded fools that should be eliminated from the human 'apex predator' gene pool for the "good" of our species.

The ideology of the Social Darwinist is indistinguishable from the despicable ideology of NAZI Germany, clearly exemplified in their brutally enforced morally bankrupt concentration camp law: “Eat your own bread, and if you can, that of your neighbor.”

Social Darwinism is actually based, not on "survival of the fittest", but on fear of tomorrow, a morally bankrupt excuse for rejecting altruism and empathy and embracing a selfish greed dominated hoarding modus vivendi.

"One who fears tomorrow does not offer his bread to others. But one who is willing to divide his food with a stranger has already shown himself capable of fellowship and faith, the two things from which hope is born." -- Primo Levi, author of Survival in Auschwitz

"In the post-industrial US, a person matters only as much as that individual produces wealth for the economic or political elite." -- Howard Lisnoff

Social Darwinists believe that the dictum “survival of the fittest” (a term coined not by Charles Darwin but by sociologist Herbert Spencer) means that only the fittest should survive. Darwin's book published later ("Descent of Man") made it clear that Darwin completely supported the morally bankrupt views of Spencer.

Enthusiastic converts to Social Darwinism have, to this day, used the language of evolution to frame an understanding of the growing gulf between the rich and the poor, as well as the many differences between cultures all over the world. The explanation they arrived at, and continue to use to justify biosphere trashing profit over people and planet, regardless of any alligator tear filled mendacious claims to the contrary, is that businessmen and others who are economically and socially successful are so because they are biologically and socially “naturally” the fittest.

Conversely, they reason that the poor are “naturally” weak and unfit and it would be an error to allow the weak of the species to continue to breed.

The money lenders have played a key role in funding this deceit propagated in high schools and universities, where it is passed off as "the Capitalist fiduciary duty of corporations to make a profit above ANY OTHER CONSIDERATION, be it the health and wellbeing of employees or the environment". It is, and always was, legerdemain formulated by the monied elite to dress up selfish, abusive, exploitative and cruel behavior towards "less important" humans and/or animals experimented upon in research labs, as "scientifically justified".

Look at our world, our country, our interactions with each other……… this is not the mark of a healthy society, and if these are the self-appointed leaders of this flaming meteor…..it’s time to move on to new ideas and new people. Let’s relegate these fools to history. They perpetuate a narrative that it is right to behave in a strictly selfish, exploitative manner towards all. We simply can’t survive it any longer. Things will change because they have to. -- Kathleen Wallace

If we wish, as a species, to survive and thrive, we MUST make ethical behavior sine qua non. The following is the antithesis of Social Darwinism:
"What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?
Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it." ~ Psam 34:12-14

The Social Darwinist world view is an abomination. Civilized humans should have a proper understanding of the correct ordering of their priority of duties. The Social Darwinists, all atheist avowed worshippers of the self, regardless of the harm self-worship causes human civilization, are uncivilized reprobates.

Isaiah voiced God's view of the arrogance of all morally bankrupt humans who worship themselves instead of the Creator of the Universe.
Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you. ~ Isaiah 41:24.

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 92)

Mike Winger 🕊️ 519K subscribers 25,527 views  Streamed live 22 hours ago  20 Questions with Pastor Mike - Every Episode

Question Time Stamps for Quick Reference:
0:00 Intro

1. 0:19 {Can a Christian Have a Demon?} Can a true Christian be “possessed” or have demons?

2. 12:33 {About Plagiarism in Preaching} Plagiarism in preaching seems to be on the rise. In Philippians 1: 15-18, Paul seems to be saying the end justifies the means when preaching. Is this an accurate interpretation, and applicable to plagiarism?

3. 20:09 {Should Pastors Discuss Politics?} Should pastors avoid discussing current political issues with their congregation?

4. 24:19 {How Smart Must We Be to Evangelize?} I often get overwhelmed because it seems that I need to know EVERYTHING about EVERY topic (history, science, linguistics, etc.) to be able to defend the faith. Do you have any advice?

5. 27:35 {Jesus’ Sacrifice Contradicted?} Does Deuteronomy 24: 16 contradict Jesus' sacrifice?

6. 33:26 {When Will Every Tongue Confess?} When do you think Philippians 2: 10-11 will be fulfilled? At the end of the millennium, at Armageddon, or throughout the future at different stages? I think Romans 14: 10-12 gives us some insight.

7. 36:24 {Sharing Truth with a Defensive Person} My husband doesn't believe in the Trinity and gets so defensive when I try to talk to him about the true God. Should I not bring it up anymore and just live as an example?

8. 40:01 {How Old Will We Be in Heaven?} How old will we be in Heaven?

9. 44:09 {About the “Church of Christ”} Do you have any insight on Church of Christ doctrine? I have a friend I'm planning to open a dialogue with who is in the Church of Christ. I see works based salvation emphasized, but need help.

10. 46:05 {Are Believers Still “Sinners”?} I was wondering, when we get saved, are we still “sinners”? I know that after being saved we sometimes sin. But does that still label us as sinners? I thought we were new creations.

11. 52:27 {Is the Senior Pastor Role Biblical?} Why do so many churches have a “head” pastor that does mostly all the teaching when God gives teaching gifts and words to many people?

12. 57:27 {Cowardice in the Book of Jonah?} Were the mariners and shipmaster selfish cowards and Pagans in Jonah 1:5-15? Even with drowning in a stormy sea, I sense hesitation to discard Jonah to save their own lives.

13. 1:04:43 {Mercy vs. Sacrifice} What does Jesus mean when He says, “I desire mercy and not sacrifice” in Matthew 9: 12-13?

14. 1:08:17 {Can Coffee be Addictive?} Does proverbs 25: 28 apply to coffee? A lot of people are addicted to coffee, and without drinking coffee they get headaches and other problems. Does that mean it is sinful?

15. 1:13:38 {About the Nicolaitans} Isn't Jesus hating the Nicolaitans in Revelation 2:6 out of character? Also, who were they? I hear they were a cult from the Nicholas of Acts 6, one of the 7 deacons.

16. 1:20:32 {The Destruction of Jerusalem} Do you think that Jesus prophesied the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70? Or do you think the passages people refer to are only about end times events that have not been fulfilled yet?

17. 1:23:26 {Living Together if a Couple Abstains?} Is living together without being married while abstaining living in sin? I don't know how to deal with so many Christians that think it's OK, in light of 1 Corinthians 5:9-13.

18. 1:27:34 {Parental Guidance – Sexual Identities} HELP! My wife and I have access to our kids’ text messages. We discovered our daughter texted a friend that she wants to tell us that she's "coming out as bi-sexual.” What do we do?

19. 1:33:37 {Can Christians Serve in the Military?} I was curious what your thoughts are on the modern American military and if Christians can/should serve in it.

20. 1:36:15 {Are there Additional Spiritual Gifts?} Are there more spiritual gifts than those talked about in the Bible?

Quote
My video explaining 6 different views of Revelation/end times.

I also referenced this video explaining what Jesus meant in the prophecies about the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD as well as His second coming.

To ask a question just wait until after the you see me live on screen and send your question in through the live chat with a "Q" at the beginning. If possible, include specific verse references and write your question as clearly as possible. Thanks!

The Abbey of Misrule

February 11, 2023 By Paul Kingsnorth

Intermission: Saints of the Greenwood

Wild Christianity and the future of the West
SNIPPETS:

In many ways I see the world pretty much as I saw it when I wrote my first book two decades ago this year. But the one big difference is what I now believe the core of the crisis to be. Back then I thought the crisis was about politics: the systems that governed us didn’t work. Intertwined with that was the idea that it was all about economics: capitalism was bad. Later, as I read more and lived more, I decided that the crisis was actually about culture: our values were wrong, and our relationships - with each other and with the rest of nature - were skewed.

I still believe most of those things, but in the writing of these essays I have come to believe something else: that in fact the root of the crisis, beyond and beneath all of this, is spiritual.

My readers will know, whether they want to or not , that over the last few years I have become an Orthodox Christian. This has, as it is ☝🏻 designed to, re-orientated my entire worldview. I’m able to see things now that I couldn’t see before; and one of those things is that no society in human history, anywhere, has ever survived for any length of time without a religious core.

I’ve circled back to this theme several times over the last couple of years, perhaps most directly in this essay. I think that every culture has a throne at its heart, on which sits its deity. We have dethroned the deity that built the West - that would be Christ - and you don’t have to be a Christian to understand that a culture with an empty throne at its heart is headed for a spiritual crisis, which will echo up through every aspect of its everyday life. This is where we are. ... ...

How should a Christian respond to the dangerous spiritual vacuum of the times?

In this Chuck Missler video teaching I learned this AWESOME information:

🕯️ Abraham is a type of God the ☝🏻 Father.

🕯️ Isaac is a type of Christ! He carried the wood for the sacrifice and allowed himself to be tied!

🕯️ Eliezer (Abraham's Steward of ALL he had) means 🕊️ Comforter = type of the 🕊️ Holy Spirit! PRAISE GOD!

🕯️ Rebekah who said YES is the type of the BRIDE of Christ Raptured!!! GLORY TO GOD!

AMAZING teaching!

✨ Zodiac BEFORE it was corrupted in Babylon is associated with the 🌟Twelve Tribes of Israel AND ⭐ points irrefutably to 👉 ☝🏻 Christ coming from the 🦁 Tribe of Judah!

👉 Prophetic Camp marching formation of the tribes of Israel under Moses was in the SHAPE of the Cross 🕊️ of ☝🏻 Christ 😲 with the 🦁 LION of Judah Tribe leading to the Promised Land! 🙌

AGelbert NOTE: While the word "stocks" in Hosea 4:12 is related to demonic divination practices, I am certain the 🕊️ Holy Spirit deliberately had that word put there thousands of years ago to 📢 warn today's Evil Generation of FALSE "Christians" that their Stock Market Idolatry is as abominable to God as the demonic divination with "stocks" by the Northern Kingdom in general and the Tribe of Ephraim in particular.
