It is pretty clear to me that you will cling to your optimism, regardless of any data that undermines it (e.g. DECLINE in Living standards AND Life expectancy of MOST Americans, NOT just blacks, SINCE 1980). Whatever.
So, since you and I appear to be a couple of stubborn old hide bound mules 😁, let's have a go at parsing that quote on what (allegedly) is the preferred MO of an "American" Fascist.

The quote above is an excellent example of arbitrary guardrails on the term, "American Fascist". Yeah, they do just what the quote says they do. However, that is a mere subset of the whole Fascist enchillada. Said "AMERICAN (

Fascist COMPLETE Enchillada" includes a LOT of OTHER, often SADISTICALLY VIOLENT,

Well, if you assume that, you are wrong. As NAZI Adolf made CLEAR, using legerdemain to CONVINCE the public that what you SAY is TRUE, is
sine qua non to MAKING THE PUBLIC BELIEVE THE LIE you tell them, so they will swallow it. Thus Fascists achieve POWER over the Public through cognitive dissonance based mental paralysis.
A part you refuse to admit is EVIDENCE of American Fascism is our Police State Prison Industrial Complex preying on the people and increasingly "criminalizing" behavior the Fascists want to criminalize.
To you, that's just "fascism lite".
We had a saying in ATC when a big military exercise was scheduled that would be 😓 stress-city all the way through the 8 hour shift because of so many military aircraft to control, in addition to the civilian stuff. If we were NOT scheduled to work that shift, we would grin and say,
DNHMS (Does Not Hit My Shift 😁)! You can do the DNHMS thing all you want,

How many 🥵 people, for example, need to ☠️ DIE from murderous American Fascist Actions (I.E. The U.S. Government PLUS the MIC PROFITABLE GENOCIDE SUPPORT) for you to believe we are guilty of GENOCIDE? We aren't ANY different from NAZI Adolf in that regard. Neither are our Fascist Zionist pals:

milo > AGelbertThat is an excellent explanation. I had just about given up on any possibility of a meeting of the minds. I am reminded of a sign I saw on a wall in downtown Denver, years ago, that said "Is it fascism yet?" For me, no. I read a lot of history and at many times and places it has been much worse. For you yes, because this country has never been in this sad a shape. Not even in the late thirties, when the German Bund and other popular groups were urging that we stop struggling and join the fascist wave.
Your explanation of how American fascists prefer to warp minds instead of using violence is accurate. I will note, however, that the extremists I see on some other Disqus channels are ready to fight. And they are armed. So we can only hope it doesn't come to that, as we struggle to preserve our way of life.
I'm not in any way an optimist. I just see that things can get much, much worse before full fascism is achieved. And since it's coming to pass by popular acclaim, I'm not sure how we can stop it. They are a determined few, maybe 35-40% of the public ar most. But they are highly motivated and march in lock step. We tend to just hop around in every direction, like baby frogs. I despair of what may likely be coming toward us.
At any rate, I think a meeting of the minds has been achieved. Thanks for sticking with the conversation.
